david michail

David is the principal and founder of metlawgroup in its Los Angeles, California offices. Frequently retained as "consulting counsel" by various prominent Entertainment law firms in Los Angeles for his knowledge in new media, David mostly represents emerging market and Fortune 1000 clients in various IT, digital media and entertainment related projects. His practice niche includes a unique combination of insight into New Media, Advertising and Marketing Law, Entertainment, Technology and Internet, Corporate, M&A and Business transactions.

David has also published articles, blogs and participated in radio commentary covering a myriad of business topics including user generated content, accessing capital, intellectual property, Internet privacy, interactive media, including commentary on leading cases in the convergence of technology and entertainment industries.

He is also a frequent guest speaker and panelist regarding various corporate, finance, internet, advertising and business related issues throughout Southern California. Additionally, David has been recognized by Los Angeles Magazine as one of Southern California's top attorneys with its prestigious Southern California SuperLawyers award for 2005 through 2008 representing the top 5% of legal practitioners in Southern California as designated by his peers.

Prior to forming his own law practice, Mr. Michail served as Rare Medium, Inc's (NASDAQ: RRRR) West Coast Director of Legal Affairs, advising on all business and technology initiatives for Rare Medium's Western US offices as one of its in-house team. David also served as Rare Medium's Venture Manager for its $70 MM Institutional Venture Fund, underwritten by Bear Stearns and Apollo Capital. In his role with the LA venture capital office, Mr. Michail was responsible to evaluate financing transactions and performing corporate, business and legal due diligence on Internet-based investment opportunities.

Mr. Michail is admitted to practice law in Virginia, the District of Columbia, California and Colorado. David is also licensed to appear before the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals (4th Circuit) and the United States District Court, Central District of California.
